Hear us, O Enki

Hear us, O Enki

Hear us, O Enki

He is the magnificent one;
He is the beloved one of Heaven and Earth;
He is the exalted one among the people.

He is the Goat of the Abyss;
He is the one begotten by a wild bull;
He is the ever-wise and ever-knowing seal-keeper of Heaven.

He is the lord of the sweet life-giving waters;
He is the lord of creation;
He is lord of order.

O beloved among heaven and earth we call to you;
O begotten son of An, we call to you;
O cherished brother of Enlil, we call to you!

Hear us, O lord of Eridu;
Hear us, O magician of the gods;
Hear us, O ordainer of destinies!

We call to you, O wise one;
We call to you, O virile one of life-giving semen;
We call to you, O architect of the universe.

It is to you that Isimud bows;
It is to you that the Seven Sages bow;
It is to you that the people of earth bow.

Hear us, O Enki;
For it is your name that is on the lips of the people.
Hear us, O Nudimmud;
For it is your name that is whispered as a secret spell.
Hear us, O Niššiku;
For it is your name that empowers the exorcist, the magician, and the priest.

We proclaim your praises, O lord.
We proclaim your deeds, O lord.
We proclaim your majesty, O lord.

Grant that our lives be ordered as you order the universe.
Grant that our lives be sustained by your life-giving water.
Grant that our lives be blessed as you bless the land with your presence.
